another try

July 12, 2010

When heading out-of-town, keep your blog rolling by scheduling important posts such as FARTS! and Complaints about parenting.  However, don’t brag about finishing your workouts before you actually have, because they’ll bite you in the butt!

Case in point:  Saturday’s workout called for 8 miles.  Typically no problem at all.  Plenty of nice miles to be run around town and we can get that done before children are awake.  Problem was, we were out-of-town  (for a swim meet) and had mapped out a route from our friends’ home, never thinking we might just get caught off guard by HILLS, road construction, and lack of sidewalks.  Oh my effing GOSH!  Crazy!

We stay with these friends often.  We know there is a hill leading to their home and one leading to the highway.  We DID NOT, however, realize their entire town is continual rolling hills.

I can say no more than, we did it.  We finished.  We didn’t get lost.  And I didn’t cuss one time!  I would also like to add that one hill took us 8 minutes to climb!  Seriously!  I’ve run in the mountains of Colorado and would rather run any mountain before running in Bonner Springs, KS again. ** And, it was 85° and 90% humidity.

Something that I didn’t do – wake up today for my hill-repeat workout.  Gosh.  I don’t know.  It seemed redundant.

Run on Friends!

**we are going back in 3 weeks for another swim meet.  plan calls for 13 miles.  😦

I didn’t realize how much I hated them until I spent an hour on them!

Where in Bonner Springs were you at? You should go to Shawnee Mission Park and run…great running trails, and if you want hills…have those too. I’m headed there this evening to hit the trails!!

Hope you had fun on your trails!
