why I run…

January 18, 2010

in my very early days of blogging (like 3 months ago) i posted on why i run.  i really don’t remember what i said. nor am i interested in going back to see what i said.  but i’m sure it was wise.  since that post, life is different.  questions have been answered (yeah. i drank too much on new year’s), miles have been logged (thanks dailymile), and a few new ‘friends’ have been made.  the biggest news…i’m still running.

i run because i can. i run because i want to. i run because it gives me hope. i run because it reminds me of my purpose. i run because there is nothing else like it.  i run because it isn’t another sport (i throw like a girl – i shoot like a 3rd grader – i hit like i’m swatting at bugs). i run because it gives me time.  running is a soul-searching, deep conversation, exploring all the possibilities, growing spiritually, finding clarity, and loving myself activity.  i run because it gives me something that no person ever could.  so there.  that’s why – at least that’s why today.  i loved my 4 miles.  they were hard and i’m pretty sure my knees never bent and i had 50lb weights strapped to my ankles, but it was just what a mommy/wife/child needed.

i’m on a path to complete my goals for 2010 – i’ve found a couple of gay guys (not that there’s anything wrong with that) to cut my hair – not at the same time, but i’ll test their “this-chick-ain’t-got-no-style” IQ and then give one of them the thumbs-up. i’m looking at spring break.  don’t know why.  just sounds good.

took the turd-eating-super-dog for our first run last week – almost lost my arm.  going to google “how to make your dog your running buddy” and see what comes up.

have an idea for tattoo(s)…

looking at a plan for speed…

have memorized one bible verse – phil 4:13 – an easy one, but it kept showing up on cars around us.  i had to know what all the fuss was about.

my credit card misses me.  i do have a bajillion points on it though…gonna crank those puppies out in some crazy way.  probably on starbucks.

have looked at running skirts on-line.  not quite sure just yet.  style? color? which one fits my j-lo/kim kardashian butt? where can i try one on?

still working on getting FatherRunner agreed to taking a wall down in the house.  time to pull out the big guns! 😉

Run on Friends!

If you haven’t given to Haiti, you are not alone. Not everyone will choose to give. Some will choose to pray. Others will choose to go and help.  Which will you do?
