Birthday Blog

January 8, 2010

LittleFoot turned 9 on January 6th.  She is a bright little star in our dark-humor lives.

Here are some highlights of her day:

start the morning opening gifts with dogs watching = √

Try on neck warmer (and wrist warmers) made by Mom = √  (idea taken from this gal)

Have Mom & Dad bring lunch to school for birthday girl and cupcakes for entire class = √

Be super embarrassed when class and teacher sing “Happy Birthday” = √

Be the first to take a bite of said cupcakes = √

Surprise friends with the wacky insides of cupcakes = √

Go for run with Mom in new running clothes = √ (yes – we really live on Lovers Lane)

Get 1/2 mile from home – get hit by 40mph winds – turn around – hope Dad comes to save us = √ (Yay Dad!)

Pose with presents (running skirt, running shirt, peace sign, running pants, running tank, neck & wrist warmers, purse, book & Petz game) = √

We hope she had a fantastic day.  Just last week she had announced that she no longer wanted to do swim team.  When we said, “No problem.  Just let us know of an activity you are willing to do so that you get your exercise.”*   She responded, “Can I run?”  Sure.  You can run.  We didn’t know what we were getting into, but thought we could support her by buying some super cute (and cheap) running clothes.  The day before her birthday she asked if she could run on the treadmill.  I told her she could and said, “but only go about 1 mile and then I’ll help you stretch when I get back” (I was headed to get a few groceries).  I came home 40 minutes later – she was just coming up the stairs; “I just ran 3 miles and did 100 sit-ups!”  WHAT!?!?  BigFoot announced that she had been running the entire time. We laughed.  We stretched.  She hasn’t been able to move much since.  Her first taste of too-much-of-a-good-thing.

Run on Friends!

*PSA – I remember a time when parents said ‘sit still!‘ or ‘be quiet!’ – but those were times before video games, books, cable TV, homework and the internet.  🙂

She isn’t achy anymore – so today she is going to do 1 mile. At least that is what she said on the way to school…we’ll see.

Happy Birthday to LittleFoot… she’s a sweetie, and clearly has her mom’s passion for running already. 🙂

P.S. Where did you get the “super cute” flower bag? I am guessing an etsy shop but one never knows…..

If you are talking about LittleFoot’s I got it from CO BFF – here
If you are talking about the one on the cabinet, it’s my swag bag from the women’s 1/2 marathon.
They are both adorable and highly useful.
